“A beautiful world with a church, a temple, a mosque, a mandir, a synagogue, mud huts, skyscrapers, all existing together – this is my vision of a society living in tolerance and harmony. My dream is of a world where you look beyond horizons, beyond religion and beyond cultures. These are simply rituals and once we get past them we can live and let live.
I paint women because I feel that we are the most vulnerable victims of our darkening age. I paint their fears, their hopes and aspirations – I paint their world as I would like to see it. I create symbols to define the contradictions, and others to signify hope. In my canvases I create flowers, birds and blue skies and use bright colours, where hope springs eternal, because for me, giving up is not an option.”
