Rumana Husain is an independent writer who has contributed to the visual and performing arts discourse for over three decades. She graduated from CIAC, Karachi and has taught art at KGS, IVS and CAS Schools.

She specialises in contemporary art practices and prefers to write in-depth pieces rather than short reviews. Since 2019, she has covered three art exhibitions and written several long essays featured in magazines such as Karachi Collective and Fascinating Pakistan Magazine. She has written and illustrated over 60 children’s books for the Book Group, Oxford University Press, Danesh Publications and ERDC. She co-founded the now-defunct ‘NuktaArt’ magazine and was its Senior Editor. An AICA Member since 2006, she is well-known as the author of a coffee-table book, ‘Karachiwala – a Subcontinent within a City,’ about Karachi’s diverse communities. She is also the author of ‘Street Smart: Professionals on the Street.’
