Commune is situated in Sadiq Godown, a colony of old warehouses. The sounds and lights of urban Karachi and the colours and chaos of Miskeen Gali, surround it. Commune Artist Colony, founded by Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, is a creative gathering space for talented artists, filmmakers, musicians, fashion designers or for any other aspect of visual and performing arts. The agenda is the promotion of visual and performing arts and strengthening of the artist community in Karachi and beyond. Commune is a unique platform for artistry and the corporate commuity to meet in a way that will strengthen both of their endeavours.
Commune provides an alternative exhibit and performing space to artists as well as a platform for discussion. The colony in Miskeen Gali, aims to become a center point for art and art related activities. Interactive studios, exhibits and performances are a regular feature at Commune. For many years the Commune has been associated with exclusive red carpet events, art exhibitions, plays, book launches, and photography exhibitions.
