The Institute of Arts & Design was established as a Department of Fine Arts in 1970, at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, with a two year Bachelor program i.e. BA (Pass) in Fine Arts. In 1985, the syllabus of MA (Pass) in Fine Arts was introduced to meet the needs of the job market at that time. In 2005 the Department of Fine Arts was upgraded to the Institute of Arts & Design, offering a Four-Year Degree Program such as Bachelor of Fine Arts, (majoring in Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics), Bachelor of Design, (Communication and Textile), Bachelor of Art History and a One year Diploma in Music. The four year Bachelor’s and One year diploma program in Music, are designed with an emphasis on studio and research disciplines to encourage students to develop their individual styles and understanding of Art as well as Design.
