Aliya Yousuf is interested in what it means to find beauty in the ordinary. She searches for the meaning of an object in our social culture and how the meaning changes depending on the context of cultural and social acceptance. This has led her to an interest in nontraditional and traditional materials. She explores the materials through process, and alteration; letting the physical and formal characteristics of the materials guide her decisions.
