Danish Azar Zuby is a Design Consultant, and one of the pioneers of Interior Design profession in the country. He has been in the design field for more nearly 50 years. Taking inspiration from his father, Ozzir Zuby – a pioneering Modern artist of Pakistan, his creative interests have always intersected with Art. He paints; he is a cartoonist, a calligrapher, an educationist and social activist. His retrospective exhibition, “The DAZ Anthology” was held at VM Art Gallery in 2010 in Karachi, celebrating 40 years of his work and showcased his endeavors in sculpture, painting, and photography apart from design disciplines.
Zuby also has a deep interest in calligraphy. “I grew up watching traditional Kaatib’s hand write the Urdu magazines at the Replica Publications.” Being self taught he has a command over Naskh, Nastaliq, and various Roman scripts. For many years he was requested to hand write names on Indus Valley School’s degrees and was also commissioned to write the original Charter of the Aga Khan University on parchment in 1989. His most recent effort has been the development of his own signature script, Khat-e-Danish.
Zuby’s considerable body of work also includes Calligraphic Paintings in mixed media.
