Durab started working on round canvases in his thesis at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2009. At that time his inspiration came from looking through a marble; compositions, cityscapes and various spaces started taking shape on his canvases. He kept painting and as he looked deeper, imagination took over. He found meaning in urban architecture, in those compositions that he wanted to express.
In his academic years, he started with hyper realism and moved on to surrealism. Nowadays he is working with abstraction, with some elements of realism and surrealism. For subject matter, he started with urban landscapes in his own style which he still enjoys, but naturally he is moving to other subjects as time goes by.
