Huma Mulji is a multidisciplinary artist who works with sculptural installation, photography, collage and drawing. Drawing on the city and its collective memory within a backdrop of economic globalization, state power, and fragmented histories, she activates the dysfunctional, the sorrowful, the futile and the funny. Her sculptures stand as inconvenient witnesses to time and place, critically exploring material & form in her deliberately awkward works. Mulji has an abiding interest in examining the specificity of place, amplifying a perpetual discomfort and scepticism from the perspective of both observer and participant.
She currently, lives in Bristol, UK and is a Senior Lecturer, Fine Art, at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
