Saqi Ali is a self-taught calligrapher who has worked in both the gallery and advertising. He debuted by writing on Takhti (wooden slate) and in schoolbooks. Ali was given the opportunity to turn his passion into a career when he was hired by an Urdu daily newspaper in Hyderabad. He learned the fundamentals of professional techniques and began practicing on his own under the guidance of experienced senior colleagues.
