
Mussarat Arif graduated from the Karachi School of Arts in 1996, obtaining a diploma in fine arts. Her art is known for its focus on traditional South Asian identity through Islamic geometric symbols, encapsulating the conventional clothing of Pakistan, such as the ‘Ajrak’. Mussarat Arif has exhibited her work in numerous countries. With over 40 shows to her name, she is a pioneer in the revival of calligraphic South Asian art in Pakistan. Her work is in the public collections of the Larson Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad, Pakistan.
