ABOUT

My art combines paintings, prints, archived histories and hand-drawn animation to explore place and identity. Raised in Pakistan, I have spent half my life in the USA. This cross-cultural experience informs my conceptual approach which uses art as a tool for excavating site-specific stories.

My work is at a critical juncture. The richness of my archival research and community engagement has created momentum to feed new experimental work. In 2019, I will make a new artwork for the Portland Biennial, along with a solo exhibit of drawings for the Paragon gallery. I will also collaborate with mapping programmers and the Mobile Projection Unit to project my images onto outdoor sites using the cityscape as a canvas to activate lost stories throughout Portland.
