Safdar Qureshi has a BFA from National College of Arts (NCA) with specialisation in traditional miniature painting. After honing his skills as a miniature painter he began to experiment and started using other techniques to practice contemporary art.
His work deals with basic issues which, from time immemorial, have not been resolved. They are universal problems, e.g. societal, political, economic and religious, which remain unresolved and continue to erode the fabric of society. He has combined all these turbulent issues in his contemporary miniature work. To a certain extent he wanted to resolve on paper “wasli” all these concerns, which, to him, were like a chain interconnected and impossible to undo.
His contemporary miniature paintings have a minimalistic quality and are a continuation of his previous work. However, they are more potent and more relevant to the present time.
