Shehzad Hussain is a self taught Truck Artist and entrepreneur. When he decided to bid adieu to his family profession – hand carpet weaving and designing, he decided to venture into selling models of trucks. He saw a truck model on one of his trips to Peshawar and saw the business potential in this commodity. On coming back to Karachi, he commissioned truck artist to create these models for him to sell and souvenirs. However he was disappointed by their lack of punctuality in meeting delivery deadlines and therefore he decided to get training in phoolpatti himself. He spent three years at ‘truck addas’ with the truck artists and learnt this art. Today he he claims to be the largest provider of truck art souvenirs in Pakistan. He has worked with Haider ali and Phooljee and now employs other truck artists including Habib Ahmed, who following in his employers footsteps is learning the art of phoolpatti over and above his skill in chamakpatti.
