Born in Pakistan, Yaminay Chaudhri has a background in architecture and combined media studio art. In 2011, she established the Tentative Collective in Karachi, as a cross class interdisciplinary platform for collaborative and site specific projects. Since then, she has used digital media, writing and performance in response to the urban; relying on historical and site-specific research, and social encounters in the city.
Her collaborative and individual works have been shown in various museums, galleries and film-festivals including: Maraya Art Centre (Sharjah), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Kunstraum Bethanien (Berlin), Gandhara Artspace (Karachi) and Karachi Biennale. She presented most recently at the 2018 March Meeting (Sharjah) and Tate Seminar (Karachi). She writes for various publications and loves teaching.
